While India is reeling in the failure to bring home the ODI World Cup 2023, breaking hearts of billions, another talk added blemishes to the already fading sparks brought in by the steady winning streak since the beginning of the World Cup.

India’s first World Cup winning skipper Kapil Dev was not present at the arena while the battle was raging on. In an interaction with ABP news, Mr. Dev said he was not invited. He said, “I wasn’t invited. They did not call me so I didn’t go. As simple as that. I wanted the whole ’83 team to be there with me but I guess due to the fact that such a big event and people are so busy handling responsibilities, sometimes they forget”.

The video of Mr. Dev speaking about the issue is circulating through social media.

Kapil Dev led team brought the World Cup to India for the first time in the country’s history. The team took the cup by competing against a star-studded West Indies team in the final in a low scoring encounter.

During today’s match, India lost. The final power-packed battle at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad culminated in breaking the hearts of a billion Indian fans. In the ultimate shutdown of a mega majestic event with over 1.3 million spectators in the gallery, Australia beat India in the ICC World Cup final to clinch their sixth World Cup, adding to their victories in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2015. A terrific performance by Australia’s Travis Head, who scored 137 runs, helped the Aussies overcome the powerful Indian bowling attack. Travis Head returned to the gallery when the victory was only two runs away, leaving his partner in the fantastic partnership, Manus Labuschagne, at the crease to witness the victory.
