Indian track and field athlete Neeraj Chopra’s mother gave a heartwarming reaction after the Tokyo Olympic gold medallist lost the winning spot to his Pakistani counterpart Arshad Nadeem.
Social media, expectedly, is celebrating Chopra’s win and amid this, his parents’ reaction has also resurfaced.

When media asked, Chopra’s mother, Saroj Devi said Arshad Nadeem is also their child. While speaking to ANI, the 26-year-old’s mother said her son will be warmly welcomed for winning silver in the Olympics.
“We are very happy, for us silver is also equal to gold… he was injured, so we are happy with his performance,” she said.
She added that she is happy for Nadeem for winning gold, adding that all the athletes are like her own children. She then added that she would cook Neeraj’s favourite food when he returned back home.

ANI has also posted a video of his father’s reaction following his win, “everyone has their day, today was Pakistan’s day… but we have won silver, and it is a proud thing for us”.

After clinching the silver medal, Neeraj admitted that he had given his best, but reflected that his Pakistani counterpart was in his best form. “We all feel happy whenever we win a medal for the country. It’s time to improve the game now. We will sit and discuss and enhance our performance. Today was Arshad’s day. I gave my best, but some things need to be addressed and worked on. India played well (at the Paris Olympics). Our national anthem may not have been played today, but it will be heard in the future,” he said.
Nadeem stunned the sporting world with his spectacular throw of 92.97 meters in the men’s javelin throw final. Meanwhile, Neeraj, the defending champion’s best throw was 89.45.
