According to the reports, Google is halting a month-old experiment that allows users to attach colourful notes to search results. Google in November disclosed Search Labs that can be opted-in notes attaching images and texts to links in the Google app search results.

The company said that the test does not possibly warrant a wider release as it hasn’t reached a larger audience. Somehow it stands as a trivial feature and probably the least could make use of the tool. If the users have signed up for the experiment,  they can “Add note” and “Notes” buttons, which allow users to see what people shared by opening a grid of stories. Users can also Like, Share, and Save for later with Google.

Google’s spokesperson Ashley Thompson stated that the company will not launch all the experiments broadly, but the innovative ones that the people want to hear from other people and Notes stand as a space to explore helping people to share their knowledge and sprawl out them to the search. The company is anticipated to contribute new features and experiment with new things to connect people providing them factual data and also bringing learnings from Notes into future tool experiments, he added.

On the other hand, Google has received a patent to bring a group travelling feature to its Maps app, reported a Lithuania-based blog, IGILTA. The new feature will help the user invite co-travellers to navigate different starting points and reach the final destination.

If the map detects multiple users,  it will coordinate the journey by sending invitations for multi-car navigation further providing synchronised map roots reaching the meeting point. The primary user will be able to choose the lead car and connect it with other travellers in different vehicles going to the same place. The co-travellers will be notified with timely updates about traffic and road-related information from the lead car. The map may provide real-time notifications about the time and distance.

Google would display all the multiple locations of the travellers involved in the journey highlighting the shared routes to reach meeting points via its Maps app. There will also be a speed recommendation alert to keep every other passenger together on the journey.
