The Google on Tuesday (August 26) announced the introduction of a new AI feature for Google Translate. Through this update, users can have back-and-forth conversations in real-time via audio and on-screen transcriptions. The tech giant is planning to roll out this new feature in 70 languages including Arabic, French, Hindi, Korean, Spanish and Tamil.

The google said that the new update can help users to learn new languages. They can open the Google Translate app on either Android or iOS, click on “Live translate,” in order to select the language they need and start talking. This feature enables users to have a natural conversation with a “single tap”.

“Whether you’re an early learner looking to begin practicing conversation or an advanced speaker looking to brush up on vocabulary for an upcoming trip, Translate can now create tailored listening and speaking practice sessions just for you,” the Google said in a blog post.

Furthermore, users can set skill levels and goals under “practice” option in Google Translate. To help users practice, the app generates custom conversation scenarios. People can listen to the conversations and tap on new words, or they can practice speaking with hints to guide them.

The beta experience of the Translate app will be available for Android and iOS users this week. The update is available first for English speakers practicing Spanish and French, as well as for Spanish, French and Portuguese speakers practicing English, the company added.
