The popular social media platform Instagram by Meta has just dropped three new features that will make your direct messaging (DM) quite impressive.
With these updates, you can connect with friends and family on Instagram which will make it just a whole lot more fun and engaging.
First up, you can now assign nicknames to your friends on Instagram DM. The best part is that the nickname will only be visible in the DM window.

You can get creative with your nicknames using text, numbers and even emojis. Also, you can change the nickname as many times as you want and it will only be visible to the people in that chat group.
Adding to it, Instagram has introduced new stickers that are similar to WhatsApp stickers. These stickers are a great way to express your emotions without having to type out a message.
Instagram says that you will never run out of ways to add some personality to your DMs with over 17 different sticker packs to choose from.

Instagram has also rolled out a new feature that lets you share your live location with friends. This feature is super useful, especially when you’re meeting up with friends or family.
However, this feature is disabled by default, so you will need to manually enable it. Also, the live location will automatically expire after one hour, so you don’t have to worry about staying active for too long.
To add a nickname to your friends on Instagram DM, simply click on their name from the chat menu, select “nicknames,” and customise it as you like.
Earlier in September, Instagram by Meta rolled out new features exclusively for direct messages (DM) that the company made more accessible which may allow users to edit photos without leaving the messaging interface.
Instagram users can now access the sticker creator from the interface which will allow users to select a photo from the gallery and use it as a cutout to send it as a reaction sticker.
