Instagram has introduced a new video editing app called Edits to fill the void left by the removal of Bytedance’s Capcut from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
This announcement was made by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, on Threads. As per the announcement, Edits will be launched next month for iOS, with an Android version following soon after.
Users have to wait a little longer to enjoy the interesting features offered by this app since the app will not be available until next month. Moreover, the platform also invites users to preorder the app in the iOS app store.

The app is designed to offer creators a set of tools for producing high-quality videos directly on their phones, responding to the growing demand for creative apps in light of the uncertainty around CapCut’s availability.
So, if you are wondering what Edit could offer, here is the information. Edits offers a suite of features designed specifically for creators, including a high-quality camera, an inspiration tab, a space to track ideas, and all the editing tools.
Users will also be able to share draft versions of their videos with friends or collaborators, making it easier to work on projects together. After publishing videos on Instagram, users can access insights to track how their content performs on the platform, which could be useful for creators looking to grow their audience.

This launch of Meta comes at a time when many creators are looking for alternatives to CapCut, which has been popular among content creators. Meta hopes Edits can capture some of this audience by offering similar creative tools while also integrating closely with Instagram.
Just like how Meta launched Instagram Reels after the ban of ng in 2020, this new initiative of Meta in responding to the changes in the digital content creation landscape will capture creators who are looking for new editing tools.
