WhatsApp, the Meta-owned platform announced a new safety feature called “Context Card’ to alert users by giving more information about a group or accepting the invite request. When you were added to an unknown group you’ll be notified with additional details including who created the group, when it was made, and who added you to the group and the group description.
This will allow users to make decisions to be part of the group or not. It is even more helpful if anyone meets a group of people face to face but doesn’t save their contact later. This ‘Context Card’ feature is already available to some users and will be deployed to all in the coming days through a WhatsApp update, Meta stated in a press release on Tuesday.
The company has noticed the surge in unknown group creations leading to money loss and malpractices. Some groups are used to push activities like crypto investment and job scams. Users have been spammed by many such unauthorized groups and remained a victim of such fraud practices. The new feature will allow them to filter the group and examine the origin of any groups on whatsApp.

Apart from that WhatsApp is set to roll out users with features that offer more context and details about the person who texts you outside the whatsApp group. When a stranger sends a message to you personally on the platform you will get to know the information regarding that unfamiliar account. Earlier it was limited to giving control in settings, going to account, and choosing who can add me to the group, ‘my contacts, everyone or except this person.’
In June, Meta, on WhatsApp announced its new upcoming feature that enables users to add another image-creation tool in the app which would allow the user to add exquisite backgrounds to their profile picture, placing them in fantastic scenery. Lately, The instant message app ponders more on its performance and has been working on different upgrades to provide exciting features to its 2 billion active users worldwide.
