Saudi Arabia has several locations with historic significance and cultural importance. One such place is the Half Moon Bay, also known as Doha Dhalum. Located in the eastern region of Al Khobar, the site gained prominence when Arab traders from the Persian Gulf area sailing their traditional dhows stopped their vessels in the bay for requirements, including loading fresh water from a number of artesian wells spread at the bottom of the bay.

During the 1990s, traders would also pull into the cove in the middle of the western shore and load up salt from a local mine and sell it in Africa or India, according to the prevailing winds. It is also known for the historic significance of being an oil producer.

Historic significance apart, the bay is now known for its pristine white sand beach. Tourists can dive in and explore the artificial reef or enjoy a relaxing walk along the water among locals and tourists alike. Witnessed generations of recreations, the bay is now a fantastic spot for scuba diving, with thousands flocking for the adventure every year.

The government has built cottages, and vendors set up several stalls with a variety of food items. There is also a miniature desert with small dunes, where you can enjoy some dune riding with the hired desert bikers and ATVs.
