At Least 10 Active Israeli Soldiers Ended Their Lives This Year: Report
Tel Aviv, Israel: Over 10 Israeli soldiers and police officers have died by suicide this year alone, Israel media Haaretz reported. All the soldiers were part of the Gaza genocide in Israel. Among the deceased, at least six people were active-duty soldiers and the rest reservists who had taken part in the genocide in Gaza but were not in active service at the time of their deaths.
Since the beginning of 2026, at least 10 active-duty soldiers have died by suicide, the report pointed out. The report pointed out that around 22 Israeli soldiers died by suicide in 2025, making the numbers highest in 15 years.
Notably, the April 2026 figure alone that 11 cases across soldiers and police, shows increase in suicide rate among the soldiers, as this year so far reported roughly half of the total recorded for the entire previous year.
Since the start of the Gaza genocide, Israel has documented a rise in suicides among its soldiers. The report attributed the uptick in suicide rate to sustained psychological pressure on personnel, particularly during prolonged military operations over the past three years, in addition to the moral injury and trauma among the soldiers who unleashed offensives across Gaza.
