Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated in clear terms that the fight shall be resumed once the humanitarian truce expires. As the four days truce has been extended for another two more days, questions were raised regarding the resumption of fight after hostages’ release.

Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday took to X announcing his decision to resume the fight. In the statement released, he said that his primary objective is to destroy Hamas along with the return of the hostages.

He said, “From the start of the war, I set three goals: Eliminating Hamas, returning all of our hostages and ensuring that Gaza will never again go back to being a threat to the State of Israel. These three goals still stand”.

He then added that the release of hostages during the truce over the past week was “a very great achievement” but added that after completing the stage of retrieval of all hostages, Israel will “unequivocally” will return to the battle field.

He also added that they will not go back without fighting. “This is my policy, the entire cabinet stands behind it, the entire government stands behind it, the soldiers stand behind it, the people stand behind it. This is exactly what we will do”.

After last week of truce deal and its subsequent extension on Monday has resulted in the release of over 80 hostages by Hamas so far in return for 180 Palestinian prisoners.

As per Al Jazeera report, Hamas has said that initially Israel has declined to receive seven women and child hostages along with the bodies of three others who the Palestinian group said to have been killed in the Israel bombardment of the enclave in exchange of the temporary truce extension on Thursday. By the mediators efforts the truce has been extended for one more day, Israel military announced.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Netanyahu told US President Joe Biden during a recent phone call that an operation in the south of Gaza is necessary to achieve Israel’s goal of destroying Hamas, reports Axios. But US has asked the Israel earlier not to repeat in the south what they have done in northern Gaza, while warning of heavy civilian causalities.
