China Asks Israel To Stop Its Military Assault On Rafah "As Soon As Possible" (image@UNRWA)

China urged Israel to stop its military aggression in Rafah “as soon as possible”. Beijing warned Israel of a “serious humanitarian disaster” as 1.4 million are currently taking refuge in Rafah, which Israel once described a “safe zone”. In a statement released by the Foreign Ministry of China, It is said that the country “opposes and condemns” the actions that harms the innocent civilians and violate the international law. Israel ahs continued to extend their military assault on Rafah despite the international warning for against the potential for mass carnage in the region.

The statement read, “we call on Israel to stop military operations as soon as possible, do everything possible to avoid casualties among innocent civilians and prevent a more devastating humanitarian disaster in Rafah”.

Israel’s planned offensive on Gaza’s Rafah has caused mass sparked outrage. Several countries and international organizations has came forward voicing their concern over the plight of the Palestinian civilians who were chased to the border land. Around 1.4 million Palestinians are now sheltering in Rafah, making it the overcrowded and “largest refugee camp on earth”. Nearly 100 civilians were now killed by the Israeli air strike in Rafah.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani said that Israel’s bombing in Rafah is a “deplorable and a grave violation of international law and human rights”. Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Israeli aggression in Rafah city of Gaza has caused “massacre of Palestinian people”. It said the offensive on Rafah would “violate the provisional measures indicated by the International Court of Justice to protect the people of Gaza from Genocide”.

 

The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention, which is a legal think tank said it “strongly condemn” Israel’s attack on Rafah. In a statement given as a “SOS Alert”, the institute said that the attack on Rafah combined with the suspension of funding for UNRWA, have “worsened the already horrific humanitarian situation”.

 

This is the fifth time the institute issuing the SOS Alert. The institute is named after Jewish-Polish lawyer named Raphael Lemkin, who coined the term genocide in 1940s and helped in making it an international crime.
