As the Israeli assault in Gaza continues, Chinese Ambassador to the UN Zhang Jun said to the UN General Secretary Antonio Guterres that it is “high time to implement the two-state solution.” China’s ambassador further called for concrete steps towards the two-state solutions and full membership for Palestine at the UN. Zhang had in December last year said that enough is enough while commenting about the countries that opposed the ceasefire in Gaza
However, amid the unabated Israeli aggression, many states and international agencies appeared to be convinced about the inevitability of the two-state solution for the stability of the region. The war without an end or achievement only contributes to further casualties among the Palestinian citizens, with hundreds of people, including women and children being killed each day.
The European Union (EU) has also raised its voice for the realization of the two-state solution. The EU’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell today said that the bloc will work toward achieving a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine in EU’s foreign ministers’ meetings in Brussels, with some European countries supporting the proposition.
“Certainly, Israel’s way of trying to destroy Hamas is wrong. From now on I will not talk about the peace process, but I want a two-state-solution process,” Borrel said while speaking to media.
However, the death toll due to the continuous attacks in the besieged Gaza has crossed an alarming 25,000, while the self-proclaimed guardian of the world is still supplying arms to the aggressor, watching the entire episodes.
