Dressed In Black, Thousands Gather For Iran's Late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's Final Rituals, Body Arrives
Tehran, Iran: Thousands of people have gathered on the streets of Tehran ahead of the funeral ceremonies for the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The coffin of Iran’s late Khamenei, arrived at the Imam Khomeini Hussainiyah in Tehran on Friday, July 3, as mass mourning began across the country ahead of six days of funeral ceremonies scheduled to take place from July 4 through July 9.

Videos from the site show large numbers of residents dressed in black assembled in the capital, waving Iranian flags and singing ceremonial hymns. A sacred red flag featuring white lettering from the shrine of Imam Hussein has been draped over the casket, which serves as a “symbol of resistance, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to truth.
The ceremonies will take place in several cities across Iran and Iraq before his burial in Mashhad, according to reports. Foreign delegations and dignitaries including from India have paid their respects to the body of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
