Iran Says Strait Of Hormuz Closed Again Over US Naval Blockade Of Iranian Ports

Tehran, Iran: The Iran military has announced that the  strait of Hormuz has reverted to its previous state, declaring that the Islamic Republic has closed it against over the US naval blockade of Iranian ports.

The Iranian media quoted Iranian military’s operational command, Khatam Al-Anbiya, that it is closing the Strait of Hormuz again due to the US ‘Piracy’. ‘The strategic waterway is under the strict management and control of the armed forces,’ the Iranian military asserted.

The military command further underlined that the situation in the strait of Hormuz will remain strictly controlled until the US restores the complete freedom of navigation for vessels from an Iranian origin to a destination, and from a destination back to Iran.

On Friday, both Iran and US president Donald Trump announced the strait has been fully reopened to shipping. Iran had announced that it is opening the Strait of Hormuz in line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, which had continued to suffer from Israel bombardment even after the US-Iran ceasefire. Iran had also warned that any violation of the ceasefire agreement would prompt them to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the key international waterway for the oil supply.
