Qatar Refutes Claims To Re-evaluate US-Qatar Security Partnership

The State of Qatar’s International Media Office has issued a statement clarifying the false claims spread in American media regarding Qatar’s re-evaluation of its security partnership with the United States. While clearing the air of speculation, the State media outlet said that the claims are ‘categorically false’.

While sharing the response on social media X, Qatar’s International Media Office wrote, “The claim made to Axios by an unnamed source with knowledge that Qatar is re-evaluating its security partnership with the United States is categorically false. It is a clear and failed attempt to drive a wedge between Qatar and the US by those who benefit from chaos in the region, and oppose peace.”

Reflecting the strong partnership and its prospects, the official statement also described the Qatar-US security partnership as stronger than ever, which continues to grow. “Our two countries have supported each other for many years and we will continue working together to promote global peace and stability”, it added.

Following Israel’s recent attack on Doha, Qatar has decided to convene an emergency Arab-Islamic summit. The meeting would take place in Doha on Sunday and Monday, as per reports by state news agency QNA.

The summit is expected to discuss Israel’s attack on Hamas political leaders in Qatar, which Doha viewed as a violation of its sovereignty, calling the Jewish nation’s action state-sponsored terrorism. Qatar also stated Israel cheated the gulf nation, adding that the hope for normalcy and negotiation was also hit by the expansion of aggression to Doha.

Notably, Qatar’s PM Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani issued a statement accusing US for not tipping Qatar about the Israel’s attack on Doha on time. However, US President Donald Trump has also condemned Israel for the recent attack.

The statement came after speculations were high about the deteriorating US-Qatar security relations.
