Washington DC, US: US President Donald Trump made calls for the complete ethnic cleansing of Gaza Strip, while sitting right next to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has an arrest warrant from International Court of Justice (ICJ) for committing war crimes in Gaza. Trump’s claims were bizarre and outrageous that politicians and public alike slammed that Trump has “totally lost it.”
According to Trump, Gaza is a demolition site now, where people cannot live. And he would like to do something to the land that the Palestinians would not want to return. “It’s all death in Gaza,” he remarked.

“Gaza is a demolition site. Virtually every building is down. They are living under fallen concrete that is very dangerous and very precarious…They instead can occupy all of a beautiful area with homes and safety, and they can live out their lives in peace and harmony, instead of having to go back to do it again,” said Trump.
By literally pointing out that Gazans will be bombed again if they refuse to move out from their own land, Trump also did not rule out the use of US troops for the mission. He also added that only US control could bring “great stability to that part of the Middle East.”
Referring to the dangerous unexploded bombs in Gaza left by Israel, Trump said, “The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too. We will own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site.”
He said the Palestinians have no other alternative but to leave Gaza and go somewhere “good, fresh, beautiful” without the thought of coming back.
The Republican said he would ‘level the site (Gaza) and create an economic development.’ When asked who would then live in Gaza, Trump said “the world’s people.”
“I think we’ll make that into an international, unbelievable place. I think the potential in the Gaza Strip is unbelievable,” he said. “And I think the entire world… will be there, and they’ll live there. Palestinians, also. Palestinians will live there,” said Trump.
On the question of Israel’s sovereignty over the illegally occupied West Bank, Trump said, “We’re discussing that with many of your representatives. You’re represented very well… [but] we haven’t been taking the position on it yet.” He also added that he would decide on Israeli annexation of the occupied West Bank in four weeks.

Acknowledging the massive destruction in Gaza—which was spearheaded by Netanyahu—Trump said, “You can’t live in Gaza right now. I think we need another location, a location that’s going to make people happy.”
The oldest ruling world leader further added that rich countries will finance the relocating of the Palestinians. “I believe we can do it in areas where leaders currently say no…Other people, really rich nations, and they’re willing to supply it,” he added.
According to Trump, a coastal tourist area along Gaza’s Mediterranean coast would be “world-class,” reported Middle East Eye.
This is the fourth time Trump has called for the complete ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza within weeks of his returning to power. He said he wanted US allies Jordan and Egypt to take the Palestinians. Both Cairo and Amman have repeatedly rejected Trump’s proposal. Both the countries leaders held a phone call to discuss the need to adopt a “united position” to maintain “regional peace.”
“I have a feeling that the king in Jordan and the general in Egypt will open their hearts and will give us the kind of land that we need to get this done,” Trump told the reporters.

Notably, Jordan and Egypt are two among the top three recipients of US military aid, apart from Israel. In 2023, both Amman and Cairo have received more than $1.5 billion from Washington, and Israel has received more than $3.3 billion, as per media reports. The two countries were also among the first in the region to normalise relations with Israel.
Responding to the remarks, Hamas leader Sami Abu Zuhri said, “Trump’s remarks about his desire to control Gaza are ridiculous and absurd, and any ideas of this kind are capable of igniting the region.”
Trump is also confident that Saudi Arabia will soon normalise ties with Israel. Earlier this week, Trump suggested that Saudi Arabia no longer needs to see a Palestinian state to proceed with a deal to normalise connections with Israel.
“I think peace between Israel and Saudi Arabia is not only feasible. I think it’s going to happen…I am committed to achieving it,” said Netanyahu.
At the same time, Saudi said its commitment to a Palestinian state is “firm and unwavering.”

“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also reaffirms its unequivocal rejection of any infringement on the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, whether through Israeli settlement policies, land annexation, or attempts to displace the Palestinian people,” said Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry.
On Iran, one of the greatest enemies of the US in West Asia, Trump said he “hated” signing the executive order to return to the “maximum pressure” campaign from his first term, which was said to be intended to push Tehran hard and even lead to regime change.
“I hated doing it. I want Iran to be peaceful and successful. I hated doing it…I did it once before, and we brought them down to a level where they were unable to give any money. They had to survive themselves, and they had no money,” Trump told reporters.
Trump told Tehran that, “I would love to be able to make a great deal, a deal where you can get on with your lives, and you’ll do wonderfully.” But only on one condition: “They cannot have a nuclear weapon. It’s very simple.”

Trump also said that if Tehran was planning to kill him, that would be “the end” for Iran. He said he has “left instructions” if Iran assassinates him. “That would be a terrible thing for them to do, not because of me. If they did that, they would be obliterated. That would be the end. I have left instructions.”
Donald Trump has managed to stir up uncomfortable discussions with his usual uncensored blurting. He arrested and deported hundreds of migrants, wreaked havoc with his tariff claims, and cemented the US’s position as the top warmonger within two weeks of returning to office.
The 47th US President’s outrageous claims on displacing Palestinians from Gaza bring back foreign countries like the UK and France’s role in signing out Palestine to Israel decades back, as if it is their own land. It also backs accusations against the West of “othering” Palestinian lives. Netizens’ response to Trump’s remarks also sums up that the US president is forgetting that the Palestinians have been fighting the oppression for the past 75 years, and it’s high time the world leaders take it to heart that Palestine is for the Palestinians.
