Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai is in Pakistan to attend an international summit on girls’ education hosted by her native country, where she was attacked by a Talibani militant as a schoolgirl in 2012.
Upon reaching Pakistan, Malala Yousafzai said to feel ‘overwhelmed and happy’ to be back in Pakistan
After being shot Yousafzai was evacuated from the country and visited her native country only a handful of times since. On Oct 10, 2012, a Taliban gunman pointed his gun on her head and shot for daring to speak up for girls right to go to school.

A spokesperson for the Malala Fund charity confirmed Yousafzai will appear in person for summit, focused on education in Islamic nations.

Reportedly, Malala will attend the summit in person. The two-day summit will be held in the capital Islamabad on Saturday and Sunday, focusing on girls’ education in the communities.
Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif will inaugurate the event and deliver the opening keynote address, while Malala will be among the keynote speakers at the two day conference on January 11-12.

In 2018, the Nobel Prize winner visted her native Swat Valley after she was shot by Taliban.
Notably, Malala Yousafzai was the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 when she was 17. Malala and Indian Children’s rights activist, Kailash Satyarthi were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
