Mahindra BE 6e Is The Sportiest, High-Voltage EV SUVs Ever To Hit The Market

Pause the news! What would that be? As soon as the new Mahindra BE 6e hit the road, that was essentially how everyone responded. Is it not reminiscent of the beautiful Lamborghini Urus? It’s a big comparison, I know, but when you see the BE 6e, you’ll see that Mahindra’s audacious design is commendable. Based on Mahindra’s all-electric INGLO platform, the BE 6e (pronounced “B 6e” or the cheeky variant, “Be Sexy”) aims to upend the EV industry. Will its rivals appear to be antiquated artifacts in comparison to the new SUV? We will soon get the answer.

The BE 6e has an aggressive all-black fascia and a large air duct on the bonnet that increases economy and aerodynamics. Its full LED headlights and C-shaped LED DRLs give it a fierce, athletic appearance, and the fog lamps heighten the aggressive atmosphere. It’s interesting that the BE 6e doesn’t have the new Mahindra electric badge on the front, which adds to its distinctiveness.

The BE 6e has the futuristic charm of a vehicle from a Transformers film, from the squared-off wheel arches to the strong character lines along the doors. Its 19-inch alloy wheels, which can be upgraded to 20-inch or 207-mm, give it a commanding appearance. The ground clearance of the battery is much greater at 218 mm.An enlarged roof spoiler and a discrete rear spoiler further improve the BE 6e’s aerodynamics, while the sloping roofline contributes to its sleek, athletic appearance. The rear’s L-shaped LED tail lights give it an edgy appearance.

The BE 6e has a cockpit-like feel because to its halo-shaped interior, which is modelled after a fighter jet. The gear stick adds a distinctive touch because of its flight stick-like shape. The driver’s console and infotainment system are both housed in the dashboard’s dual 12.3-inch digital screens. The door handles and command rotary dial are canvas loops that you pull to unlock the doors, and the centre console houses a magnetic key fob holder. These features are novel, but we’ll see how they hold up in the long run.

The BE 6e has dual-tone black and beige interiors, but for an SUV of this size, the plastic quality is a little lacking. Nonetheless, Mahindra has included several well-considered features, such as tactile controls for standard equipment like parking sensors, warning lights, central locking, boot release, SOS call, and even a selfie camera mode, above the rearview mirror. This EV has an in-cabin camera, so you can use it to record enjoyable road trip moments with friends and family or to conduct online meetings.

The passenger at the rear has plenty of knee room because there isn’t a transmission tunnel, and the rear passenger area has respectable legroom when compared to its rivals. On the other hand, the under-thigh support may need some work. For passengers who are taller than six feet, the headroom could also be a little limited. The rear AC vents are a notable feature because of their radiator-like shape and internal button for airflow adjustment.

With wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two wireless phone chargers up front, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, the BE 6e is brimming with connectivity features. Additionally, it has a glass roof with ambient lighting, a motorized tailgate, dual-zone temperature control, an augmented reality-based head-up display, and ambient lighting.

Modern safety technologies including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automated emergency braking, blind view monitor, and Level 2 ADAS—which includes driver drowsiness detection—are included in the BE 6e. The top-tier BE 6e variant will include seven airbags, while the base model will have six.

With an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 18.90 lakh, the BE 6e is prepared to compete with rivals like as the Tata Curvv EV. It has an unrivalled road presence in its class for this pricing. The BE 6e’s striking appearance is supported with class-leading performance and handling, which will make you smile every time you turn a curve. It has less body roll and maintains its adherence to the road.
