Mercedes Benz Project Maybach Showcased At Nita Mukesh Ambani Centre

Mercedes Benz introduced their first-of-its-kind electric concept show car called the Project Maybach designed by late Virgil Abloh and Gorden Wagener at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai. It is the fourth such exclusive ‘concept car’ showcased by Mercedes-Benz in India, following the emotive Mercedes-Maybach Vision 6, AMG GT, and Electric G-Class.

This 2-seater, battery-electric off-road coupé combines huge Gran Turismo proportions, large off-road wheels, and distinctive attachments. This project will be on display at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre till October 2024, offering visitors a glimpse of the work of the Late Virgil Abloh.

What is Project Maybach all about?

The Project Maybach concept car, presented in a sandy monotone exterior wrapped in a robust roll bar, highlights adventurous side of the vehicle while maintaining its essence as a sleek luxury coupé.

Exterior

The colour concept emphasizes pure and monolithic style through its earthy sand tone with a striking sci-fi chrome grille appeal. The roof rack not only protects the vehicle occupants but is also large enough to attach a roof tent as desired, creating yet another gateway to the great outdoors. Along with the headlights and protruding taillights, the vehicle’s nose, located behind a large glass panel, has been given a modern reinterpretation of the renowned Mercedes-Maybach grille.

Interior

Inside, the cabin has been reimagined as a modular hotel room, where seats transform into a first-class flatbed. The interior features polished aluminium paired with ultra-soft sandy leather, tanned naturally with coffee shells to ensure the lowest environmental impact. The jacquard houndstooth-finish headrests can double as blankets, and cleverly designed compartments reveal reading lights. Additionally, the seats can be packed up and removed suitcase-style, allowing them to be used in a high-end tent. The dashboard seamlessly integrates digital and analogue elements, further highlighting the car’s advanced design.

The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre’s multi-disciplinary cultural space provides an ideal backdrop for showcasing such luxury vehicles in India, highlighting Mercedes-Benz’s unmatched craze. Customers and brand enthusiasts are thrilled by the stunning designs of our concept cars, including the highly emotive Vision Maybach 6, the AMG GT 6 or the Concept EQG. The special Project MAYBACH is a testament to the craze of Mercedes-Benz’s innovative designs and will generate excitement among customers and automotive enthusiasts visiting the Centre.

Project MAYBACH was first launched during Miami Art Week on December 1, 2021. It is the second collaboration between Wagener and Abloh, showcasing innovative elements, such as, this car features solar cells hidden under its transparent hood, enhancing the range.
