New Bajaj Chetak Launched At Rs 1.2 lakh; To Launch The Base Variant Later

The next-generation Chetak, which is built on a new platform and boasts extra features, was unveiled by Bajaj Auto. The business has only revealed the ex-showroom costs for the mid variation (Rs 1.20 lakh) and the top-spec version (Rs 1.27 lakh), even though the new Chetak will still come in three different configurations.

The 3.5kWh battery in the next-generation Chetak is now housed beneath the floorboard thanks to a redesigned frame. According to Bajaj, the new battery has a greater range of 153 kilometres and weighs 3 kg less. According to Bajaj, the scooter can be charged from 0% to 80% in three hours using the 950W charger that comes with it. Other than that, the Chetak employs a 4kW motor and the same equipment as the Chetak from the previous iteration. With a peak speed of 73 kph in the top two versions and 63 kph in the basic 3503 model, the stated performance is comparable to what was previously stated.

Saving boot space is one of the main benefits of switching to a floor-mounted battery. Although it was one of the few grievances about the previous Chetak, it has already been resolved. One of the largest in the industry is the new 35-liter boot. Additionally, the seat is now 80mm longer and the wheelbase has increased by 25mm to 1,350mm. The top-spec 3501 model gains a number of additional capabilities, including screen mirroring, Bluetooth connection, and a TFT display with built-in maps. Document storage, geofencing, a theft warning, and an overspeeding alarm are further features.

With the new Chetak, the business is providing a 3-year/50,000-kilometer warranty. Bajaj intends to release the base 3503 model later and has only revealed the costs of two variations thus far. The TVS iQube, Ather Rizta, Ampere Nexus, and Ola S1 series are some of the competitors of the Chetak at the moment. In keeping with its goals for global electric mobility, Bajaj plans to start exporting the Chetak EV in the upcoming fiscal year. Chetak is envisioned by the firm as a flexible ‘umbrella brand,’ and it intends to add seven or eight electric car variants upcoming. Bajaj’s dedication to innovation and market leadership in EVs is demonstrated by this approach.
