Skoda Octavia RS India Launch Confirmed For 2025, Plans To Import The Superb Diesel
Skoda has confirmed that the Octavia RS will launch in India this year. “We will definitely bring the Octavia RS to India this year,” stated Ashish Gupta, Skoda India’s recently hired brand director. We know that the new Octavia RS will arrive in India during the holiday season, despite Gupta’s lack of a timeframe commitment.
The Octavia RS, which debuted at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January, will finally be available for purchase as a full import this year, though there won’t be many available. This will be a much-anticipated unveiling for enthusiasts, as the Octavia already has a devoted fan base in India, particularly in RS guise.

Despite their high price, the 200 vehicles of the previous generation Octavia RS 245 that were imported to India quickly sold out for the brand. A 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 265 horsepower powers the fourth-generation Octavia RS. This same engine powers the newly released Volkswagen Golf GTI.
Pricing will be higher because it’s a CBU, though, and we anticipate it to cost more than Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). As a result, the placement will resemble that of the VW Golf GTI. Although the Octavia RS’s confirmed arrival is undoubtedly welcome, Skoda was also thinking about introducing the Kodiaq RS, Superb, and possibly the standard Octavia to India.
The company had contemplated building the Octavia domestically and had alluded to bringing diesel back with the Superb. But according to Gupta, the uncertainty surrounding the FTA agreements and other geopolitical possibilities is the reason these models have been placed on hold for the time being.

“The market is quite unsettled due to discussions about the FTA agreement, new regulations, and tariffs. There are so many uncertainties that every plan is currently risky, even if I wish to create a structure for my future product portfolio. We do have a plan for what cars should and can make it to India, but we are unable to make decisions because of all these uncertainties,”.
Therefore, Skoda will concentrate on its domestically made cars, particularly the Kylaq, while the Octavia RS will act as a halo model and a brand booster. With average monthly sales of 5,000 units, the small SUV has helped the brand recover in India. Additionally, lifecycle improvements for the Slavia and Kushaq are planned.
To reach a larger market, Skoda is also aggressively growing its dealer network and client touchpoints. Skoda has risen to seventh place in India since the Kylaq’s debut, and in March 2025, it even achieved its highest-ever monthly sales of 7,422 units.
