The VF 6 and VF 7 SUVs will be built in India, according to VinFast, an EV company based in Vietnam that is exhibiting almost its whole worldwide portfolio at the current Auto Expo. According to VinFast Asia CEO Pham Sanh Chau, the company intends to start manufacturing its first electric car by the second part of this year. The SUV siblings’ final release will take place before the holidays.
At its plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, the Vinfast VF 6 and VF 7 models will be locally constructed before possibly being sold to markets in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Notably, their prices are probably going to fall between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 30 lakh.
With lights at the front and back that create VinFast’s iconic V pattern, the five-seater has an almost swoopy, crossover-like shape and measures 4,545mm in length. It will be available in two variants: VF 7 Eco (FWD) and Plus (AWD), all of which are powered by a 75.3kWh (net) battery pack. The dual-motor VF 7 produces 354 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque (combined), whilst the single front-wheel drive engine produces 204 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque.

According to VinFast, the VF 7 Plus and Eco have WLTP ratings of 431 and 450 kilometres, respectively. Other than the alloy wheel sizes (the Plus has bigger 20–21 inch possibilities, while the Eco only has 19-inch ones), and the touchscreen sizes (15 and 12.9), there aren’t many differences between the two versions.
In Vinfast’s lineup, the VF 6 is positioned behind the VF 7. For the small SUV, that means a reduced length of 4,238mm. It is probably going to be offered in two versions, Eco and Plus, just like its other stablemate. Although VinFast’s V symbol and a swoopy shape are also included here, the wheel size is lower at 17 inches. Lower, close to the bumper, are the headlight and fog lighting modules.
Regarding battery size, the VF 6 has a 59.6kWh cell, which is comparable in capacity to its anticipated competitors. There will only be one electric motor available, situated on the front axle, and it has two different outputs: 204 horsepower and 310 Nm (Plus) and 178 horsepower and 250 Nm (Eco). The WLTP is between 381 and 399 kilometres on a single charge. Standard equipment includes Level 2 ADAS, a 12.9-inch touchscreen and over-the-air (OTA) updates.

Charging stations are being built and are open to any partnerships as long as they benefit the people of India,” he said. A big chunk, of the EV market, 70 percent to be precise, will be covered by Vinfast’s dealers in major metropolitan and Tier-1 cities. VinFast’s group company may also build a charging network in the country. Battery leasing or battery on rent option is also being considered besides a 10-year warranty and a buy-back scheme.
