The digitalisation drive began in 2023 under the direction of Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, with the aim of simplifying access to property records as well as preventing corruption and red tape associated with the issuance of khatas. The BBMP has digitised around 21 lakh property records and converted all 5,500 ledgers into digital form. The GPS drive is also expected to boost Bengaluru’s property tax revenue.
The BBMP is now verifying the accuracy of the digitised records through a multi-level quality control process involving case workers, deputy commissioners, and joint commissioners.
