Google made a historic announcement today that the brand will manufacture Pixel smartphones in India. Google said that they are planning to start this significant project in India, beginning with the Pixel 8, and will partner with international and domestic manufacturers for the production of devices. “Made in India” Pixel 8 smartphones are expected to arrive in 2024. This development indicates India”s rising importance in the world of technology.
“Today we see an even greater opportunity to make Pixel smartphones available to more people in India, and are very excited to announce our plan to manufacture Pixel smartphones in India,” said Rick Osterloh, senior vice president, devices and services, at Google. Rick Osterloh also said that India is a priority market for Pixel devices and added that the company is committed to bringing the best of their hardware and underlying built-in software capabilities to people across India. Google made this announcement, joining India’s “Make in India” initiative, during the ninth edition of the Google for India event. Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw was also present during the event.

US-based technology giant Google unveiled the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones on October 4. The new Pixel series is powered by the Google Tensor G3. While the Pixel 8 comes with a price tag of ₹75,999 for the 128GB storage variant and ₹82,999 for the 256GB storage model, the premium Google Pixel 8 Pro will cost Rs 1,06,999. Both smartphones are equipped with major features, including secure face authentication and seven years of software support.
