CBSE Class 12 Economics Paper Analysis: "Moderate Difficulty Level," Say Experts

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the Class 12 Economics board exam today (March 19, 2025).  As per the feedback from experts, the overall question paper was “moderate” and was easy for students who had prepared well.

Analyzing the difficulty level of the question paper, Timeline spoke to Surinder Kaur, the Head of Department, Economics and Rimple Gupta (PGT Economics), who opined that a well-prepared student could easily score well as the questions were as per the sample paper pattern.

The subject experts shared their insights on the examination paper, including the difficulty level. Most of the experts have described the paper as “moderate.”

According to the experts, the paper turned out to be easy for the well-prepared students, as the questions were expected.

But for an average student, the exam paper appeared as moderately difficult, as it required “in-depth knowledge and a clear understanding of the concepts to interpret the question in the most effective manner,” the experts told Timeline.

Since there were no challenging or out of syllabus questions, the experts also noted that the question paper was prepared in the expected line. Moreover, the experts also said that the questions were equally distributed without specific concentrations in a particular area.

Regarding the overall difficulty level of the question, experts told Timeline, “The paper was well balanced yet required deep understanding. Overall difficulty level was on the higher side. It was as per the latest prescribed syllabus.” But from the students end, the reaction to the question paper appeared mixed.
