As per the decision taken in the CBSE governing body meeting held in June, the board in collaboration with the British Council for internal assessments is planning to develop a framework for the classes 6 to 12 science subjects. The decision aims to address the issue of ‘inconsistency and potential inflation of marks in the internal assessments.

A capacity-building workshop would be held by a team of CBSE officials to train school leaders and coordinators to ensure consistency, transparency, and fairness in the internal assessment practices to tackle issues of inequality in education outcomes and disengagement among students.

However, the internal assessment framework will be following the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) and the Holistic Progress Cards.

Additionally, the CBSE would install CCTV recordings of classrooms during exams to address the ‘risk of disturbances at the exam centers’. CBSE said to record the real time ground reporting to address the issues and give necessary inputs  to administer the exam in a proper way.

The partial cost of CCTV installation will be taken by the CBSE. Also a data bank at the CBSE headquarters will be created to submit CCTV recordings for each exam day via a web link, the proposal includes.

CBSE proposal is likely to implement from 2025 examination onwards and a committee will be set up to assess the infrastructure requirements, implementation of the plan, to ensure IT system efficacy and to handle the data collected from schools. However, the proposal will be implemented in a pilot project form and reportedly, include 30% of the centres in a region.
