The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a notification inviting online application forms for the Common University Entrance Test [CUET (UG) – 2024]. The online application window (only mode) is open from February 27 to March 26 (till 11:50 PM) and the correction window will remain open from March 28 to March 29, 2024. Last year nearly 36 lakh students appeared for the exam in nine phases across 387 cities in India and 24 cities abroad.
The NTA has been mandated by the Ministry of Education and University Grant Commission to conduct the CUET which provides a single window opportunity to students seeking admission in any of the Central Universities (CUs) or other participating organizations including State Universities, Deemed, and Private Universities across the Country.

CUET is held for Admission to Undergraduate Programmes into Central Universities and Other Participating Universities, Institutions, Organizations, and Autonomous Colleges. CUET (UG) 2024 will be offered in 380 cities including 26 cities outside India.
Here are some Key Points to know about the CUET (UG) 2024:
- CUET (UG) 2024 for the Academic Session 2024-25 will be conducted in the Hybrid Mode (Computer-Based Test (CBT) and Pen & Paper Mode.
- The Announcement of the City of Examination will take place from April 30 onwards and admit cards will be available to download from the second week of May 2024.
- The tentative dates for the examination extend from May 15 to May 31, 2024, and the result is expected to be declared on June 30, 2024.
- The CUET (UG) 2024, will be conducted in 13 languages including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
- A Candidate can choose a maximum of any 3 languages from Section IA and Section IB taken together (the third language chosen needs to be in lieu of Domain-specific subjects). Section II offers 27 Subjects, out of which a candidate may choose a maximum of 6 Subjects. Section III comprises the General Test. Candidates should select at least one language and the General Test.
- There is a total of 33 languages and 27 subjects, however, candidates can choose a maximum of 6 (six) subjects from all three sections. 40 questions are to be attempted out of 50 in each language and domain-specific subjects.
- The General Test where is being used for admission and a total of 50 questions to be attempted out of 60 questions.
- Duration for all test papers would be 45 minutes except for Mathematics/Applied Mathematics, Accountancy, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Computer Science/Informatics Practices, and General Tests which would be 60 minutes.
- Section IA & IB: Language to be tested through Reading Comprehension (based on different types of passages–Factual, Literary, and Narrative [Literary Aptitude & Vocabulary]. Section II: As per NCERT model syllabus as applicable to Class XII only. Section III: General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning (Simple application of basic mathematical concepts arithmetic/algebra geometry/mensuration/stat taught till Grade 8), Logical and Analytical Reasoning.
- The examination will be conducted on multiple days in two or three shifts, depending on the number of Candidates and Subject choices.
