The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses is set to undergo significant modifications in 2025 following an expert review committee, the UGC Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar. Notably, the UGC formed an expert committee to review the conduct of CUET-UG and PG exams.
UGC Chairman said that the expert committee was formed based on feedback from past years as it is essential to continuously improve the examination process to provide a better, more efficient, and conducive environment for students taking CUET.

“The committee has examined various aspects of the test, such as its structure, number of papers, duration of test papers, syllabus alignment, and operational logistics. The commission considered these recommendations in a recent meeting,” he said.
The CUET-UG exam was introduced first time in 2022 and was plagued by technical glitches. The exam was conducted in hybrid mode for the first time in 2024. It was cancelled across Delhi a night before it was to be held citing logistical reasons.
Also, students have raised concerns about the normalization in the exam. As a result of tests for a subject being conducted over multiple shifts, the scores had to be normalised during the announcement of results.
The UGC chief said that a draft proposal detailing the revised guidelines for conducting CUET-UG and CUET-PG 2025 will be put forward inviting feedback and suggestions from students, parents, teachers and institutions.
