While addressing Bengaluru GAFX 2024, Karnataka Higher Education Minister Dr M C Sudhakar announced that the State Education Policy is set to incorporate creativity as a skill.
At GAFX, during a session titled ‘Future of education in AVGC’ Sudhakar said, “Indians, have been recognised in terms of creativity. We need to take this forward by encouraging creativity in students before training them to use technology-enabled tools such as AI or AR/VR to succeed in the field of AVGC (Animation Visual Effects Gaming and Comics). We would consider creativity as an important skill to be incorporated in the state education policy”.
He further added to explore options of giving AVGC a status of a degree for a meaningful experience for students who choose to pursue the creative field.
Sharath Bache Gowda, KEONICS chairman, addressing the session emphasised upon the nurturing of country’s talent for content creation, painting, sculpting and other creative arts to reap the projected growth of $26 billion by 2025 in the AVGC sector. Gowda also reflected upon the fertile Indian workforce and need to create an environment to tell and narrate stories to the world.
He also mentioned the Karnataka Government initiative to create an ecosystem to develop AVGC talent in Tier 2 and 3 cities. Other speakers include industry experts such as Ashish Kulkarni, Founder Punnaryug; Arul Moorthy, Founder Davinci Media College and Easo Thampy Mathew, Senior VP Aptech. All speakers emphasised on the inculcation of creative skills among children instead of just focusing on advanced technology tools.
During the event experts advised on focusing on fundamentals in the digital era before the use of digital tools. “AI can not replace human talent instead can be used to augment students creative skills”, they said.
