Applications are being accepted for a four-year integrated curriculum that will transition to the Integrated Teacher Education curriculum (ITEP) through the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). On the official website, institutions desiring to switch from the BA BEd or BSc BEd programs can submit an application.

According to NCTE, 2024–2025 will be the final academic year that students can be admitted to 4-year integrated programs. After that, no further students will be admitted to these courses. Students enrolled in classes for the 2024–25 session will be permitted to finish them.

The four-year combined BSc BEd/BA BEd program will no longer be offered starting in the 2025–2026 academic year.

ITEP is a four-year dual-major holistic undergraduate degree offering BA BEd, BSc BEd and BCom BEd programmes. For the preceding academic year, NCTE introduced the ITEP in 57 Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) last year. This course expects to prepare teachers for the four stages of the new school structure: foundational, preparatory, middle and secondary (5+3+3+4). The NCET informed if any institutions who want transition to ITEP may opt for middle or the secondary stage.

According to the official notification, “In light of the NCTE (Amendment) Regulations 2024, NCTE hereby invites applications for transition from the institutions which have been granted recognition by NCTE to run the 4-year integrated programme (BA BEd/ BSc BEd). The institutions desirous for transition to ITEP may apply on the online transition module in the NCTE website within the stipulated time,”.

The council further informed, “If any institution, which is not recognized by the NCTE, applies for transition; the application shall be outrightly rejected and any fees paid by such institution shall be forfeited,”.
