The UGC urged the prospective students in an official notice, “Prospective students and parents are hereby advised not to take admission in the Ph.D program offered by these three Universities from now onwards”.

“Ph.D awarded by the above three universities shall not be treated recognized for higher education and employment”, UGC cautioned students.

According to the UGC notice, the given three universities were not abiding the provisions of UGC Ph.D Regulations and also the academic norms for the award for Ph.D. degrees. UGC said, students must exercise due diligence when selecting a university for doctoral studies. Verify the UGC recognition status of the programme and institution before applying. The UGC is dedicated to ensuring that the Ph.D. degree remains a mark of genuine scholarly achievement and research excellence.

This is a strong message to all universities that maintaining rigorous academic standards is non-negotiable for UGC. A public notice by the UGC has been put out in the public domain and UGC has communicated this decision to the universities separately.
