A Vijayaraghavan, former Acting secretary of the Communist Party of India (M) is fielded as the CPI(M) candidate from Palakkad constituency. The CPI(M) announced its final list of candidates for the Lok Sabha election on Wednesday. Having in mind the loss the Left alliance faced (19 seats out of 20) in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, CPI(M) is expecting to increase its count this time.
Vijayaraghavan has been a member of the parliament in Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the parliament. A senior member of CPI(M), he has been an active member in the student wing of the party, SFI. While doing his Master”s degree in Law, he served as the All India President of SFI.
In 1989, the comrade was elected to the Lok Sabha by contesting election from Palakkad constituency. And later from 1998 to 2010, he served as a Rajya Sabha member.
Currently, Vijayaraghavan is the central Secretariat member and General Secretary of the All India Agricultural Workers Union. Apart from this, the list of his various positions is many.
The CPI(M) candidate who has completed his bachelor’s degree from government law college, in Kozhikode was married to Professor R. Bindu, who herself is a stalwart leader of the party. She is also a teacher in Sree Kerala Varma, Thrissur. R Bindu is the current minister of Education and social justice of Kerala.
The positions handled by the comrade, also include president of the Students Federation of India, director of the Malayalam Communications Limited and was also president of the Students Federation of India. The CPI(M) stalwart who was born in Malappuram also served as the ad-hoc Secretary of CPI(M), Kerala during the 2022 elections.
