Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: CPI(M)’s K. Preman Wins Nemmara With Narrow 3,305 Vote Margin

Kerala: As per Election Commission data, K. Preman of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has secured victory in the Nemmara constituency with 66,521 votes. He defeated A. Thankappan of the Indian National Congress, who polled 63,216 votes.

Preman won the seat with a narrow margin of 3,305 votes after the completion of all 15 rounds of counting. The close result shows a tightly fought contest between the LDF and UDF candidates, with both sides receiving strong support.

A. N. Anurag of the Bharath Dharma Jana Sena finished third with 18,107 votes, trailing significantly behind the top two candidates. The figures indicate that the main contest was between CPI(M) and Congress in this constituency.

The small margin highlights how competitive the election was in Nemmara, with the lead staying relatively close throughout the counting process. Even small shifts in votes played a key role in deciding the final outcome.

With this result, the LDF managed to retain the seat, though with a reduced margin, reflecting a closely contested battle in the constituency.

The counting of votes for the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections began at 8:00 am on Monday, marking the culmination of a high-stakes political battle among the United Democratic Front (UDF), the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF), and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
