Bharat Rashtra Samithi candidate Kaleru Venkatesh defeated Bharatiya Janata Party’s Chenaboyanna Krishna Yadav in Amberpet constituency in the 2023 legislative assembly election of Telangana. Amberpet witnessed a tough fight between Kaleru Venkatesh, who is the member of Telangana legislative assembly since 2018 and Chena Boyanna Krishna Yadav. Kaleru Venkatesh was polled 74,416 votes while Chenaboyanna Krishna Yadav came second with 49,879 votes.Indian National Congress candidate Dr. Rohin Kumar Reddy who came third has garnered 1800 votes. Kaleru Venkatesh has succeeded in Amberpet at a margin of 24537 votes and retained as the member of Telangana legislative assembly.
The election to Telangana state assembly was held on November 30 for 119 seats. Amberpet is one of the 15 constituencies in the capital city of Hyderabad. It is part of the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency.
In the elections of 2009 and 2014, Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate G Kishan Reddy, who is currently the Union Minister of Tourism, Culture and development of North Eastern Region of India, won from Amberpet. In 2014, he was polled 81,430 votes which was 55.7 % of total votes polled. The BRS candidate Aedla Sudhakar was in the second position with 18,832 total votes and AIMIM candidate Naliganti Sharath Babu achieved 17536 votes and secured third position.
In 2018 assembly election, Kishan Reddy was defeated by the BRS candidate Kaleru Venkitesh after a tough competition. Kishan Reddy lost his seat with a margin of just 1016 votes. Venkitesh acquired 61558 votes with 45.03%. The TJS candidate Nijanja Ramesh achieved 4261 votes and secured third position.
Overall, according to the latest reports, out of the total 119 seats in Telangana, the Indian National Congress is leading with the 64 seats and Bharat Rashtra Samithi is in the second position. Bharatiya Janata Party is in the third position in the total seat share with 8 seats. Along with Telangana, the assembly elections were held in other states including Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Mizoram. The result of these states except Mizoram have also been announced today.
