Tughlakabad Assembly Seat 2025: AAP's Incumbent MLA Sahi Ram Wins
Sahi Ram, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate has emerged victorious in the Tughlakabad constituency, securing 62,155 votes. He defeated his closest rival, Rohtash Kumar of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), by a significant margin of 14,711 votes.
Rohtash Kumar garnered 47,444 votes, while Virender Singh of the Indian National Congress (INC) trailed behind with a mere 2,313 votes, losing a substantial 59,842 votes compared to the winner.
Sahi Ram, the incumbent MLA, was seeking re-election from the Tughlakabad constituency, which he has represented since 2015. Rohtash Kumar, the BJP candidate tried to reclaim the seat for his party, while Virender Singh, the Congress candidate, aimed to revive his party’s presence in the constituency.

The Tughlakabad Assembly constituency is part of the South Delhi Lok Sabha constituency and comprises several areas, including Tekhand Village, Badarpur, and Mehrauli.
The constituency has undergone changes in its geographical structure since 2008, as per the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India.
A member of the Aam Aadmi Party, Sahi Ram has had a successful political career, winning the Tughlakabad Assembly seat in 2015 and 2020. Before this, he served as the Deputy Mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation in 2013 and was elected as a Councillor twice.

However, Sahi Ram has also been involved in some controversies, with two convictions against him. The first conviction was in 1998 under the West Bengal Prevention of Defacement Property Act. The second conviction was in 2017 for voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty.
In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, Sahi Ram won the Tughlakabad seat by a margin of 13,758 votes, securing 58,905 votes. The BJP’s Vikram Bidhuri came second with 45,147 votes, while the Congress’s Shubham Sharma secured 1,342 votes.
