Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has revealed that his 90-year-old mother, Zeenat Hussain, will make a special appearance in his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, set to release on June 20, 2025. This marks her acting debut, adding a personal and emotional touch to the film.
In an interview given on Wednesday, Aamir shared that his mother had never visited his film sets before. However, on the day of a wedding song shoot for Sitaare Zameen Par, she expressed a desire to join him on set.
Aamir recounted, “Normally, Ammi doesn’t say she wants to come to my shoot. So, I don’t know what she felt, but the morning of the song shoot, Ammi called and asked, ‘Aap kahan shooting kar rahe hain? Humko bhi aana hai shooting pe aaj’ (Where are you shooting today, I also want to come).”

Moved by her interest, Aamir arranged for her to be brought to the set. Director R.S. Prasanna suggested including her in the scene as a guest at the wedding celebration.
Initially hesitant, Aamir eventually asked his mother if she would participate. To his surprise, she agreed, saying, “Haan theek hai (okay, fine).” This moment became a cherished memory for Aamir, as it was the first time his mother appeared in one of his films.

In addition to Zeenat, Aamir’s sister, Nikhat Khan, also features in a guest role in the film. Nikhat, who began her acting career later in life, expressed her nervousness about sharing the screen with her brother. She shared, “I have just shot a scene with Aamir in ‘Sitaare Zameen Par and I was nervous in front of him.”
Sitaare Zameen Par is a spiritual successor to Aamir’s 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. While the original focused on a dyslexic child, the new film portrays a basketball coach who, after a DUI incident, is assigned community service to train neurodivergent adults. The film aims to highlight the importance of empathy and understanding through humour and heartfelt storytelling. The film stars Aamir Khan alongside Genelia Deshmukh and features debut performances from ten new actors.
