The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), as per the recent reports, have ordered the makers of the Vijay starring Leo movie to make thirteen changes in the film before its release. The movie gained a U/A certification from the board, means the film is unrestricted but with a parental discretion advisory for children under the age of 12 years.
Leo, a Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial and a part of his Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), is also instructed to mute the abusive or swear words. The board has also asked the team to make amends to the gore scenes in the film. “Leo finally 13 major cuts and mute bad words by censor board’’, informed the makers through an X (formerly Twitter) post. They have also shared a copy of the censor certificate on social media.
Leo, the most anticipated Vijay movie of the year is scheduled to hit theatres on October 19. Following the changes and cuts, the movie will have a run time of 164 minutes (2 hours and 44 minutes).
The U/A certification is produced by the central board to movies which contains moderate or strong violence, moderate sexual scenes, frightening scenes, blood flow, or muted abusive language. Sometimes such films are recertified with V/U for video viewing.

It was recently, the movie sparked a conversation around the social media circles as a part of the audience felt uncomfortable for some dialogues delivered by Vijay in the trailer. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj then come up with an explanation to the controversial dialogue and asserted that he is willing to shoulder all the responsibilities.
In the 2.43-minute-long trailer, Vijay who plays the character of Parthiban is seen unleashing his anger to his wife, a character played by Trisha Krishnan, about someone who tortures him and his family with a cuss word. The word denotes disreputable or undesirable people in an offensive manner. The character is presented as suffering severe pain and tension at the moment and is venting out the frustration to wife as no means of survival seems left out.
Addressing the controversy, director Lokesh Kanagaraj in a recent interview explained that the dialogue is presented by the character and not said by the actor. He justified the say as it is necessary to convey the exact emotion faced by the character of Parthiban in the scene.
Leo is the second collaboration of Lokesh Kanagaraj with the Tamil superstar Vijay after the success of Master in 2021, and the movie presents a star-studded cast catalogue featuring Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Priya Anand, Mansoor Ali Khan, Babu Antony, Baby Iyal, Mathew Thomas, Sandy Master, and many others. Music is done by Anirudh and the movie is produced by Lalit Kumar.
