
Dhanush's Vada Chennai 2 To Roll Soon? Director Vetrimaaran Drops Major Update
The collaboration of director Vetrimaaran and actor Dhanush holds a special place in the Tamil film industry for their 2018-released action entertainer, Vada Chennai. The fans have been waiting for its sequel for a long time. And after years, director Vetrimaaran has dropped a major update about the film’s production.
It was after 7 years, director has opened up about the film’s sequel. Responding to the audience’s excitement over the upcoming franchise, the filmmaker smiled and said that the hype around the film never dies.

Expressing his excitement, he said, “I think the hype that we have been getting for Vada Chennai 2 now is nothing in comparison to the hype it will receive if we begin to shoot the film.” Finally, Vetrimaaran confirmed that the movie is already in the works and will be coming very soon.

The first installment of Vada Chennai stars Dhanush as Anbu, a skilled carrom player who becomes a participant in a battle between two rival gangsters. The film also starred Kishore, Samuthirakani, Daniel Balaji, Pawan, Andrea Jeremiah, Aishwarya Rajesh and Ameer.
Moreover, in January 2025, it was announced that Dhanush and Vetrimaaran, who have earlier associated together in films such as Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Vada Chennai, and Asuran, are all set to collaborate on a new project. Major details about the film are yet to be revealed, but this project will be bankrolled by RS Infotainment.

Apart from this, the actor has his next directorial venture, Idly Kadai, rolled up in his sleeves, in which he will star alongside Nithya Menen. Currently, the actor has been busy with the shooting of Aanand L Rai’s Tere Ishk Mein, co-starring Kriti Sanon. He will be next seen in Sekhar Kammula’s Kuberaa, which will hit theaters on June 20, 2025.
