Kalki 2898 AD, epic science fiction of Nag Ashwin, starring an ensemble cast with Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan has emerged as the third biggest opener in Indian cinema, with its massive collection of 180 crores plus on its opening day.

Creating a history in Indian cinema, the most anticipated star-studded Kalki 2898AD has garnered around Rs 95 crores net in India on its first day for all languages. In comparison, its gross collection is estimated at around Rs 115 crore. Overall, the film has grossed over Rs 180 crore worldwide on day 1 according to early estimates by Sacnilk.com.

As per reports on the first-day box office collection and occupancy, “The film released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam and Kalki 2898 AD had an overall 85.15% Telugu Occupancy on Thursday” Sacnilk reported.

The massive collection of Kalki 2898 AD has surpassed the global opening records of other blockbusters such as  KGF 2 (Rs 159 crore), Salaar (Rs 158 crore), Leo (Rs 142.75 crore), Sahoo (Rs 130 crore) and Jawan (Rs 129 crore). RRR remains the highest Indian opener with Rs 223 crore collections, followed by Baahubali 2 which grossed over Rs 217 crore on its opening day.

A unique blend of Hindu mythology and science fiction, Kalki 2898 AD revolves around a modern avatar of Lord Vishnu, who has descended on Earth to protect the world from the forces of evil. Kalki 2898 AD had a grand release worldwide on June 27. The film, which already sold more than 20 lakh tickets across all languages in its bookings, opened to largely positive reviews.
