Diljit Dosanjh’s Punjabi horror-comedy Sardaar Ji 3 is all set to hit international theatres on June 27. The film will not be released in India. The decision comes amid rising India-Pakistan tensions following the recent Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, prompting renewed restrictions on collaborations with Pakistani artists.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Diljit shared the trailer of the film with the caption: “Sardaar Ji 3 Releasing 27th June OVERSEAS Only / FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN (sic).” The trailer features Pakistani actor Hania Aamir alongside Diljit and Neeru Bajwa among others.

However, Indian audiences cannot view the film’s trailer on YouTube, as the link has been geo-blocked. Instead, a message on the platform reads: “The uploader has not made this video available in your country.” Despite this, the film’s teaser and songs remain accessible to Indian viewers.
Meanwhile, the film, more particularly Diljit, has been receiving backlash for collaborating with Pakistani artists amidst a ban on them in the country.
Set in the United Kingdom, Sardaar Ji 3 follows the hilarious journey of two ghostbusters, played by Diljit and Hania, who are tasked with ridding a mansion of an unruly spirit. Known for its comedic twists and supernatural satire, the film builds on the legacy of the popular Sardaar Ji franchise.

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), citing the government’s advisory post the Pahalgam attack, had earlier requested the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to deny certification to Sardaar Ji 3 due to its inclusion of Pakistani actors Hania Aamir, Nasir Chinyoti, Daniel Khawar, and Saleem Albela.
The controversy surrounding Sardaar Ji 3 echoes previous objections raised against other films featuring Pakistani talent, including Abir Gulaal, starring Vani Kapoor and Fawad Khan in what was to be his return to Indian cinema.
