2013 Video Of India Removing US Embassy Barricades Resurfaces Amid Seafarers' Deaths Due To US Strike
New Delhi: A video from December 2013 shows authorities removing security blocks and barricades near the US embassy in India in response to the arrest and strip-search of Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade in New York, prompting further steps like revoking US diplomats’ privileges.
The video has been widely re-shared following the US attack on the MT Settebello in the Gulf of Oman, which killed Chief Engineer Patnala Suresh, Fitter Shivanand Chaurashiya, and Cadet Aditya Sharma among the Indian crew, as the tanker allegedly violated sanctions on Iranian oil.

The US also warned India against violating sanctions on Iranian oil. Sharing the old video from 2013 when Congress’ Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister sending a strong protest, several users on X slammed the ruling government for keeping silence against the US aggression.
Following the tanker attack, India summoned US officials and protested, but some online voices contrast this with the 2013 retaliation, questioning the current response as weak.
