As the election date was declared on Tuesday, the campaign in the national capital has felt the heat, with both the AAP and the BJP hurling criticisms and counter claims.
The BJP’s allegations regarding former Delhi chief minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, ‘Sheesh Mahal,’ that his spending focused solely on his residence and protecting his ‘shop,’ rather than on public needs, have drawn counters from the ruling party.
To counter BJP’s claims, AAP on Wednesday announced that the leaders would accompany the media on a tour to Sheesh Mahal to expose the BJP’s lies about the residence.

Notably, the AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Saurabh Bhardwaj were stopped from entering the Delhi chief minister’s official residence, which they had invited the media to tour with them to counter the BJP’s luxury claims.
The BJP’s allegations included that the Delhi government, on public funds, built the lavish Sheesh Mahal for Kejriwal, which contained a golden commode, swimming pool, mini bar, and other luxuries and extravagances. Prime Minister Modi recently alleged the government spent more on building the chief minister’s residence when the people of Delhi were suffering during COVID-19.

The AAP leaders have questioned the police action, asking, “Why should we need permission to enter the chief minister’s residence?” the tense standoff and political drama has been unfolding in the national capital, with the AAP leaders deciding to hold a sit-in Dharna after police blocked them from entering the chief minister’s official residence.
