At Least 60 Killed As Heavy Rain, Storm Batter Parts Of Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: In a tragic incident, at least 60 people have lost their lives after strong storms and heavy rainfall hit parts of Uttar Pradesh on the wee hours of Thursday, May 14. The fatalities have been reported from multiple districts, including Prayagraj, Kanpur Dehat and Fatehpur, multiple media reported.
The heavy strong uprooted trees, damaged houses and disrupted electricity supply in several parts of the state. The deaths were mostly caused by lightning, and trapping under the collapsed walls and falling trees, according to reports.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath ordered immediate relief measures and compensation for affected families. He directed district authorities to complete assistance work within 24 hours and asked officials to remain on alert amid continuing weather concerns.

The government ha also ordered surveys to assess damage to crops, livestock and homes caused by the unseasonal weather. Bhadohi has recorded the highest number fatalities in the natural calamity, according to the officials.
While Bhadohi reported at least 16 deaths, five died in Fatehpur and two in Chandauli, among other areas. Apart from the deaths, there are injuries reported from different places.
