Ayatul Kursi: What Is Behind PM Modi, Kuwait Amir In Arabic

In a first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in 43 years, Narendra Modi landed in the Gulf country on Saturday. On the second day of his two-day tour, Kuwait has conferred the country’s highest honor, ‘The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer,’ to the Indian Prime Minister on Sunday.

The award was conferred at the Bayan Palace, the main palace of the Kuwait Emir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. ‘The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer’ is a knighthood order of Kuwait and is awarded to heads of state and foreign sovereigns and members of foreign royal families in a sign of friendship.

Notably, social media have started wondering what the Arabic letter written on the wall behind the Amir of Kuwait is wherein the Indian Prime Minister received the highest award. Users have identified the Arabic letters as Ayatul Kursi, one of the most important verses of the holy Quran known to have many specialties.

Verse from the second chapter of the Islamic holy scripture, Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayatul Kursi is believed that there are several benefits to reciting these verses, including being a cure for body and soul. The Kursi means the throne chair, which some Islamic scholars interpreted as Allah’s realm of tremendous knowing instead of a physical chair, and only a few of Messengers have reached the Kursi.

The verses contain many names of Allah and are hence believed to be one of the greatest verses in the Quran. Each name of the god in the verse refers to the unique and supreme characteristics of the almighty. These unique traits include that the one who never dies, was never created, and that the the pre-existence was never before him.

Interestingly, during his visit to Kuwait, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met Abdullah Al Baroun, who translated the Indian epics Ramayana and Mahabharata into Arabic. The scriptures’ translations were published, highlighting a cultural exchange effort, helping Arabic speaking persons understand the Indian epics.

Receiving the highest civilian award, Prime Minister Modi has taken to X, expressing his happiness and thanking the Indian expatriates in the Gul nation.  “I am honored to be conferred the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Order by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah. I dedicate this honor to the people of India and to the strong friendship between India and Kuwait,” PM Modi posted on X.

The ministry of external affairs spokesperson has called the award a testament to the long-standing friendship between India and Kuwait in an X post.
