Cancer-Induced Mental Distress: Coimbatore Family Found Dead In Suspected Suicide Case
Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu: Allegedly triggered by prolonged illness and emotional distress, a family involving a man, his wife, and their young daughter committed suicide at Thambu Nagar in the Press Colony—Santhi Medu area in Periyanaickenpalayam. The family was found dead at their residence on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Kamalesh (48), a Junior Engineer working with the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board at Kadhir Naickenpalayam, his wife Ilakkiya (45), a nurse by profession, and their daughter Akshitha Angel (10), a Class V student at a school in the Veerappandi area.

Ilakkiya had been battling cancer for a long time and had undergone treatment at several places, The New Indian Express reported, citing sources. The prolonged distress had left the family in mental agony, pushing Kamlesh to take the extreme step.
It is suspected that Kamalesh allegedly administered poison to his wife and daughter before consuming it himself on Sunday night, and he himself recorded a video message explaining that the family had decided to end their lives due to his wife’s deteriorating health. All three reportedly died within a short span of time.

Kamalesh had sent the video to a local acquaintance late at night, which was only seen in the early hours of Monday, After alerting the police immediately, they rushed to the spot, broke open the door, and found the three lying lifeless inside the house.
Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances of the deaths.
