In an unprecedented move, both the houses of Indian Parliament, runs under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, suspended close to 100 members, the major Opposition alliance in the country likely to boycott the remaining session of Indian’s top legislative houses. News agency ANI quoted sources and reported that the INDIA alliance members will take a call in this regard tomorrow.
“INDIA (opposition bloc) parties are likely to completely boycott the winter session of Parliament. The final decision will be taken in a meeting to be held tomorrow at the office of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha,” ANI reported quoted sources.
Opposition’s move comes after 92 members from Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were suspended in last one week after they protested in the Parliament demanding Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement on the floor about the security breach happened last week in Parliament. Though Speaker had ordered an enquiry, Opposition continued their protests.
A total of 78 Opposition MPs were suspended from both houses of the parliament – 33 MPs from Lok Sabha and 45 MPs from Rajya Sabha – on Monday for ‘disrupting the proceedings’. On last week, 14 MPs from Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were suspended in the Parliament for “disorderly conduct” in the house. In total, 92 Opposition leaders stand suspended.
