Nitish Bharadwaj, popularly known for his role in the epic television series Mahabharat, has reportedly filed a police complaint against his estranged wife Smita Gate for mental harassment and unruly conduct. He has lodged written complaint against his wife to the Bhopal”s Commissioner of Police on Wednesday, and an enquiry has been started.
In the complaint, the actor accused his estranged wife of obstructing his access to their twin daughters – Devyani and Shivranjani. Nitish stated that since his wife has been changing schools of their daughters frequently, he is unable to meet them and it adversely affecting his mental-health.
He alleged that his wife “abducted” his daughters and he is not aware about the their location, Police sources told PTI. Therefore, he sought assistance from the police to involve in the situation and ensure his meeting with the daughters. The actor urged that a case of kidnapping be lodged against his estranged wife.
As per the reports, the investigating officer Phalguni Dixit has been assigned to look into the case.
Nitish Bharadwaj and his IAS wife Smita Gate tied their knot in 2009. After 12 years of marriage, the couple part their ways in September 2019. Their divorce case is pending in Mumbai”s Family Court.
The actor stated that the family court has given an order and it allows him to meet his daughters but Smita is not permitting him to do so. He demanded the custody of his two daughters, the sources told PTI.
Currently, Smita Gate is Additional Chief Secretary at the MP Human Rights Commission in Bhopal.
