MP's Two-Child Policy: Couple Abandons Newborn Under Stone Over Fear Of Losing Govt Job

Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh: A couple in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district abandoned their three-day-old infant, reportedly due to fear of losing their government job. Both the parents are government school teachers who allegedly feared losing their jobs because of having a fourth child. Police arrested the parents — Bablu and Rajkumari Dandoliya, both Class 3 teachers.

The baby boy was born at home on September 23 and shortly after the delivery, his parents took him to a nearby forest area near Road Ghat, placed him under a heavy stone, and left him there. However, villagers passing through the area heard the infant’s cries the following morning. Then they removed the stone and found the baby alive, taking him to the district hospital.

Notably, during the interrogation, the father allegedly confessed to abandoning the baby due to fears about employment consequences. He admitted that the couple buried the baby under a rock out of fear that having a fourth child might lead to suspension or dismissal from his teaching post.

Police filed a case under Section 93 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for child abandonment. A police officer added: “We are consulting senior officers. Further sections, including 109 BNS (attempt to murder) against the parents.

It is reported that the Sub-Rule (6) of Rule 6 of Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (General Conditions of Service) Rules, 1961 only states that no candidate shall be eligible for appointment to a service or post who has more than two living children, one of whom is born on or after the 26th day of January 2001. And, hence, it may not be applicable if a person has children after joining the service, and he or he will be disqualified from your job.
