New Delhi: Nearly 44 schools in Delhi received hoax bomb threats on Monday, including DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka School in Paschim Vihar. All students have been sent home as a precaution. The Delhi Police declared the threats as a hoax since nothing suspicious was found after checking.

The bomb threat was reportedly received via email. According to NDTV, the email was sent at 11:38 pm on Sunday. It claimed that multiple bombs had been planted inside the buildings.

“I planted multiple bombs inside (school) buildings. The bombs are small and hidden very well. It will not cause much damage to the building, but many people will be injured when the bombs detonate,” stated the email.

The sender also demanded $30,000 to defuse the bombs: “If I do not receive $30,000, I will detonate the bombs.”

Police, fire officials, dog squads, bomb detection teams, and local cops conducted search operations and found the threats to be a hoax. The Delhi police are currently tracing the IP address and ascertaining the identity of the sender.

Salwan Public School, Cambridge School, Mother Mary’s School, and British School are some of the other schools that received the hoax threat.

The incident comes just a week after Rohini’s Venkateshwar Global School received a hoax bomb threat via email.

Over a month ago, several CRPF schools across India, including two in Delhi and one in Hyderabad, received bomb threats through e-mail on the night of October 21. The threat turned out to be a hoax. In recent months, many Indian airlines, hotels, train stations have received bomb threats, which have all turned out to be hoaxes.
