Tamil Nadu has been crippling under two consecutive natural catastrophes as the flood followed the cyclone Michaung. The intense wind and torrential rainfall due to the arrival of the cyclone Michaung caused another calamity – flood in the state. The deadly flash rain submerged many places, with many people reported dead and several properties damaged.
In Tamil Nadu, earlier in 2021, a total of 35 people were killed in a flood, and around 16 people were killed in another flash downpour a few months back. According to the information from the experts, climate change is making floods more frequent and severe, though downpours are common in monsoon seasons in the state.
Earlier, the Tamil Nadu chief minister Stalin had alleged Indian Meteorological Department for failing to predict the rainfall accurately.
